CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (also known as CSI: Las Vegas) is a U.S. crime drama television series, that premiered on CBS on 10/6/2000. The series was created by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The TV series is filmed at Universal Studios in Universal City, California.

The series follows Las Vegas forensics experts criminalists as they use crime scene evidence to solve gruesome murders in this highly graphic drama, which has inspired a host of other cop-show ‘procedurals.’ An immediate ratings smash for CBS, the series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter and popular characters in its winning formula. The network quickly capitalized on its hit with spin-offs CSI Miami and CSI:New York.

CSI: Miami (Crime Scene Investigation: Miami) is an American police procedural TV series, which premiered on 9/23/2002 on the CBS television network. The show is a spin-off of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

The series follows a Miami forensics team led by Horatio Caine. Against a backdrop of simmering ethnic and cultural tensions, Caine’s team probes cases similar to those of their Las Vegas counterparts.

The pilot episode was first aired in the U.S. on May 9, 2002 as an episode of CSI and seven seasons have been aired in the U.S.. The seventh season is currently being broadcast in England and Ireland. The series is produced in partnership with the Canadian media company Alliance Atlantis and CBS Television Studios.

On May 19, 2009, CBS renewed CSI Miami for an eighth season, which premiered in the United States on September 21, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
